In a world full of choices and possibilities, the winners are those who master the art of decision-making. However, if we consider that sometimes even choosing our playlist may turn out difficult, it is understandable that bigger decisions – like choosing a career and, therefore, an university – can be almost terrifying.
This may not happen because we lack the will or the necessary skills, but because we don’t know exactly how to get there or, if we do know, we cannot imagine how this road will be.
This is why, you have come to the right place, if you want to do your studies in hospitality but:
- You are uncertain that you’re suitable for this field
- You don’t know exactly what does it implies
- You doubt that what’s said, it’s a reflection of what it is
- You feel that you cannot handle the pressure
- You’re scared of the unknown
That’s what I felt when I have chosen the International Hospitality Management School Vatel Lyon as a start for my career in tourism. Luckily for myself, I had the support of a Vatel student, Sabin Costea ( now a successful alumni ), who leaded the way, giving me advice, information and confidence in myself. Thanks to his mentorship, I managed to be admitted to Vatel and, later, to finish my first year with great results.
For this reason, I want to pay it forward, by creating this online community of future leaders in hospitality, in the aim of providing support for both actual and future Vatel students. In other words, I will share with you:
- Tips and tricks for succeeding the admission
- Personal feedback about my experience at Vatel
- Life hacks for adapting to the atypical schedule
- Learning tools to master the courses and the exams
- Inspiration and motivation to go towards your goals
So, if you are interested in rocking your student years, I invite you to stay tuned to these experience sharings by joining the community Act, Behave, Challenge either by subscribing to the newsletter or by Facebook.
Who am I?
My name is Maria Borcila and I am a 2nd year student at Vatel Lyon. I left my home-country, Romania, 2 years ago, attracted by the opportunity of studying hotel management in France.
Ever since, I managed to shift my mindset from fear for the unknown and for failure to curiosity, excitement and courage for the challenges that still raise every day. For this reason, I felt like creating this website, hoping that sharing my experience might help others, in the same way I was helped myself.
On the whole, I am persuaded that the following African proverb got it all:
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. ”
